Bar
“We love going to the soaking pool at Kennedy School on NE 33rd. The only downside is sometimes there’s a bit of a wait.”

Rock Club
“This spot consistently books excellent acts. Great sound, not too big and just a quick bike or Lyft ride away.”

Ny amerikansk restaurant
“ One of the best breakfast/brunch/dinner spots in the neighborhood and an easy 15min walk. There is almost always a wait but it's quick... walk around the hood while your table awaits.”

Southern / Soul Food Restaurant
“Amazing Brunch. As seen on TV. They open at 9am on the weekends, get there at 8:45 am or else you will be waiting an hour or more! The food is so yummy!”

Mexican Restaurant
“A sustainably-oriented tiny taqueria, Por Que No is filled to the brim with festive decorations, Day of the Dead wall hangings, and our Lady of Guadalupe iconography. The counter is crowded with jugs of house-made agua fresca in seasonal fruit flavors, which can be drunk by themselves or mixed into pint glasses of their famous margaritas. Don’t miss the banana-leaf barbacoa tacos.”

Caféer

Garden
“One of Portland's coolest and most beautiful spots in a sketchy area. The Chinese Gardens are a full block radius oasis in Chinatown and so worth the visit. They have the Tao of Tea teahouse inside and you can easily spend a couple of hours relaxing and wandering and taking photos and having tea. Just be aware that Chinatown is not a nice area. It's an intriguing contrast. ”

Café
“The magic of a meal at Sweedeedee cannot be overstated; every plate is arranged with care and finished with beautiful rustic touches, from the small violet flower petals sprinkled on a chilled leek soup to the flaked sea salt dusting the fresh green side salad that accompanies almost every dish. Breakfast is most popular (and the hype well-deserved), but lunch is a relaxed and luxurious affair. In the evenings, the breakfast shop becomes Sardine Head, a destination for natural wine — it’s worth a visit for hard-to-find glass pours and small snacks.”

Donutbutik
“Is it your birthday? You get a dozen doughnuts for free! If not, you should still go because although they specialize in the original cake doughnut, they have other delicious flavors to offer. ”

Coffee Shop
“The place that started the third-wave coffee craze. They pull a great shot of espresso and don't have the hoity-toity attitude so many other fancy places have. Free wifi, as well.”

Pie Shop
“A low-key coffee shop with quick breakfast items, and award winning pies (you can't help but have a slice of banana cream, really!). In the heart of Alberta Street shops. The music is a bit loud, and seating can be difficult to find, but if you go at the right time...”

“This is a hugely popular donut shop. During the summer expect long lines out the door. It is right next to the famous wall that is painted "Keep Portland Weird".”

Bakery
“Delicious local bistro serving French breakfast with an impressive selection of pastries, baked goods, and desserts. They are very popular for brunch, so get there early or expect a wait. (The Meurette Benedict is a personal favorite of ours!) Located about 2.5 miles west in the heart of the Alberta Arts District”
