Museum
“Zimbabwe's largest and best museum, the odd-looking circular building is the perfect place to tuck into the country's history, geology, animals, etc. It's definitely on a traveler's list of top ten things to do in Bulawayo. With four floors and over 7500 sights to see, we easily spent well over two hours. Grab breakfast at Indaba Cafe or lunch at the National Art Gallery Bulawayo's coffee shop before or after your visit. It's a superb museum with a vast array of offerings. Non-resident fees: $5-10 USD. ”

“Visit some of Bulawayo's artist rent studios at the gallery. There is also a cafe on site open from 9am for breakfast and lunches. Occasionally you can catch a live performance in the evenings.”

Restaurant
“Great melt in your mouth food (rump steak or ribs w/mashed potato and creamed spinach...just saying), ambiance and one of the more generous wine lists in Bulawayo. They also have this ginger-infused juice that'll make you sing! Kimba and his staff are also a warm and welcome addition! ”

Park
“Lake Chivero National Park offers a wide variety of activities, if you have free day in Harare its worth a visit. The national park run a successful Rhino conservation project, and the park is well stocked with local wildlife, perfect for game drives. The Lion Park which is situated at Chivero is also worth a visit, and the zoo area include a number of animals that require rehabilitation. Lion feeding is done several days a week in the late afternoon, if you are lucky enough to catch it is quite a spectacle. Kuimba Shiri is a Bird Park & Sanctuary that is also situated at Lake Chivero and if you are making a trip out to the lake be sure to pop in there as well. They have an amazing selection of birds, and often in the late afternoons they fly the birds of prey which is well worth watching. Basic teas and lunches are served at the bird park. Those heading out to Chivero should also stop in at the Snake Park which is situated just before the lake. Unfortunately the water quality of the lake is poor at the moment so water sports and fishing etc. is not advisable. Booking is not required unless for specific activities. ”

Natural Feature
“For a day out in nature and fishing if that’s your thing, Lake Chivero is just under an hour’s drive from Harare. Places to visit on the lake front include Harare Safari Lodge and Kuimba Shiri Bird Sanctuary. Remember to bring your picnic basket!”

Park
“Whilst not as imposing as the stone structures in Great Zimbabwe (the more famous predecessor), Khami is more picturesque and well worth a visit. A 30-minute drive from Bulawayo, Khami is a ruined city that was once the capital of the Kingdom of Butua of the Torwa Dynasty. Comprised of terraced stone walls and narrow passageways, it has the longest decorated wall of its kind. Watch out for the baboons, especially if you bring a picnic. A national monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors can wander around the site on several walking trails to take in their architecture, enjoy bird watching (Khami Dam has the best spot)- and visit the small museum. Non-resident fees: $10-15.”
