“Check out one of our municipal parks, walk the trails, enjoy the views, even walk down to the "beach"! Watch out for moose!”

“A must see, at least once! Combine with glacier tour in Whittier...or do multiple day trips out of anchorage. This is a one hour drive. You can stop and hike, eat, and/or ride the tram up the moutanin for a spectacular view in Girdwood.”

“So close to High North. Great view of the city and you can usually see moose along the way! ”

Park
“Anchorage has one of the best trails I’ve come across on my travels! Grab a bike or some cross country skis and head out for the day. Less then 1 mile from High North. ”

Park
“Bishop's Beach was the local access to Anchor Point from Homer, before the Sterling Highway connected the two communities. It is now a great place for picnics, walking your dog (generally an off-leash location; if your dog is too aggressive, keep him or her on leash, please), beach combing, or just enjoying the sound of wind and waves. Always be prepared for cooler temperatures, even in summer, to fully enjoy your stroll on the beach. Generally the water is too cold for swimming.”

Nature Preserve
“Potter Marsh, at the southern end of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, is an ideal break from Anchorage for birders and other wildlife viewers. From the Seward Highway just before the left turn into the Potter Marsh parking lot, you are treated to a stunning view of Turnagain Arm. A wooden boardwalk winds 1,550 feet from the parking area through the marsh and across watery openings and sedges, perfect habitat for a rich variety of birds.”

“If a great view sounds better to you than a climb up Flattop, the Glen Alps Trail is the next best thing for a fantastic view of the Anchorage Bowl and the Cook Inlet. On most days, the Kenai Peninsula is visible in the distance. Primarily an easy hike after one moderate uphill climb, the trail is suitable for most adults and teens. The elderly, small children, and anyone with difficulty standing or walking should opt for one of the other trails in the area.”

“Really awesome views of the city from the parking lot. There is a trail that goes further up and I think it's about 5 miles round trip, but the last part is difficult. ”

Park
“Wednesday markets every Wednesday during the summer feature live music as part of the Levitt AMP grant, food trucks & Beer garden, and local Alaskan vendors. The park sits on the Kenai River and has boardwalks along the river for walking, sightseeing, and salmon fishing (equipped with fish cleaning tables). The park features free pubic concerts several weekends during the summer months and the carnival is sure to appear at least one week of the summer. At the left end of the park sits the picnic area and children's play gym. The park also features movies in the park during the winter months, providing firepit areas and hot beverages. Parking is free.”

“As long as it isn't during school hours, they don't mind if you use the playground, basketball goal, hockey rink, soccer field, or track.”

“Cute little park just a minute walk from the suites. Large green space as well as playground equipment. Great for a picnic or to let out some energy!”

“Anchorage's newest dog park and inclusive playground for kids. The dog park has two fenced areas each with double gated entries. One area is for Small Dogs and one area is for All Dogs. ”

“This hike is great in both summer and winter. IN the winter months make sure you have 4 wheel drive or the roads are dry - you can contact us for a road update! Be properly dressed in winter clothes, and in the summer take bear spray. Always tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. The view from the top is incredible! ”

“On a clear day you can get a great view of Denali just from walking up the fenced trail on the far left side of the parking lot. This is also the trailhead for Flat Top mountain. ”

“Have yet to see a glacier in Alaska? This hike is easily for beginners and will bring you right to the glacier. Byron glacier TH is located on the way to Seward, about an hour out of town. ”
