“The Uffizi Gallery is a prominent art museum located adjacent to the Piazza della Signoria in the Historic Centre of Florence in the region of Tuscany, Italy. One of the most important Italian museums and the most visited, it is also one of the largest and best known in the world and holds a collection of priceless works, particularly from the period of the Italian Renaissance. After the ruling house of Medici died out, their art collections were gifted to the city of Florence under the famous Patto di famiglia negotiated by Anna Maria Luisa, the last Medici heiress. The Uffizi is one of the first modern museums. The gallery had been open to visitors by request since the sixteenth century, and in 1765 it was officially opened to the public, formally becoming a museum in 1865. Today, the Uffizi is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Florence and one of the most visited art museums in the world.”

“The Academy was built in the 1784 when the Grand Duke of Tuscany Pietro Leopoldo reorganized the Academy of the Arts of Design, founded in 1563 by Cosimo I de'Medici, in the modern Academy of Fine Arts. The new institution occupied the rooms of the fourteenth century of San Matteo Hospital and those of the convent of San Niccolò di Cafaggio. The museum was enriched with the suppression of churches and convents ordered by Pietro Leopoldo in 1786 and by Napoleone Bonaparte in 1810. The decisive event in the history of the museum was the transfer of Michelangelo's David from Piazza della Signoria in August 1873. The most famous sculpture in the world waited nine years, kept in a wooden case, the conclusion of the construction of the Tribune designed by the architect Emilio De Fabris to welcome it. Today's Academy Gallery was established in 1882.”

“Purchased in 1550 by Cosimo I de Medici and by his wife Eleonora of Toledo to transform it into the new grand-ducal residence, Palazzo Pitti soon became the symbol of the consolidated power of the Medici over Tuscany. Palace of two other dynasties, the Habsburg-Lorraine (successors of the Medici from 1737) and of the Savoys, who inhabited it as royal of Italy since 1865, Palazzo Pitti still bears the name of its first owner, the Florentine banker Luca Pitti, who in the mid-fifteenth century wanted to build it - perhaps designed by Brunelleschi - beyond the Arno, at the foot of the Boboli hill.”

“The magnificent castle of Emperor Maximilan is one of the major sights. It used to be an Imperial residence until the end of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and the furniture is still original. The park surrounding the castle used to be one of the most magnificent parks, it is not in the best conditions, now, but still nice for a stroll around and the entrance to the park is free. The view from the castle and also the park is really great. In summer you can go there even by boat and the view from the sea is one of my personal highlights.”

“Tkalčićeva Street is Zagreb main hub for cafes, restaurants and casual nightlife. Also known as Tkalča (Tkalcha), it features dozens of places where you will find something to your liking. Tkalčićeva is filled with life. Numerous boutiques, traditional shops, restaurants, cafes and outdoor events will fill your day. Once it was a stream that divided two oldest Zagreb settlements, Gradec and Kaptol. Because of contamination by all the shops, the stream was diverted. In the period 1899 to 1941, almost every house in Tkalčićeva street was a brothel. or this reason, Zagreb was the first city in Europe with the proper red light district. ”

“The Boboli Gardens (Italian: Giardino di Boboli) is a historical park of the city of Florence that was opened to the public in 1766. Originally designed for the Medici, it represents one of the first and most important examples of the "Italian Garden", which later served as inspiration for many European courts. The large green area is a real open-air museum with statues of various styles and periods, ancient and Renaissance that are distributed throughout the garden. It also has large fountains and caves, among them the splendid Buontalenti grotto built by the artist, architect and sculptor Bernardo Buontalenti between 1536 and 1608 ”

“Biblioteca Salaborsa is the central public library opened in 2001 and provides a rich and fascinating cultural space inside Palazzo d'Accursio, the ancient and historical seat of the city government. The archaeological excavations carried out recently to restore Salaborsa revealed traces of public and religious buildings. They are visible to the public through a walkway and testify to the fact that the place has always been the centre of public life in the city. There is the impressive wall perimeter of the Renaissance Terribilia tank, paved roads and foundations of the Roman basilica, the wall of the Medieval tower house and the star-shaped tub once at the centre of the garden. ”

“Whether or not the State Hall of the Austrian National Library is an off the beaten path attraction is debatable, seeing as it is probably the most famous library hall in the whole world. The previous court library of the Habsburgs, decorated in a lavishing baroque style, is 20 metres high and 80 metres long, and houses over 200,000 volumes. To make it even more majestic are the central 30 metres high oval dome, allegorical frescoes, and four Venetian globes each more than one meter in diameter. It does not matter if you are a book and art lover or not, a visit to this landmark should be on your list of things to do in Vienna during your next visit.”
