“One of the best small State Parks around (and there are a few!) You can: catch some waves at the beach; check out the remains of an historic ship wreck; enjoy a tranquil walk around a peaceful lake (in addition to swimming & boating); wander through a forest or enjoy a bbq! $5 daily use fee and located about 20-25 mins away.”

Beach
“This beach has been named "Waikiki" almost as long as the other Waikiki. Of course there were shipwrecked Hawaii sailors involved in the naming. The BEST place to watch giant waves on a stormy day, even from your car. The best place for dramatic photography of those waves! The driftwood is gigantic, the view across the beach of the Cape D lighthouse is stunning. Really a perfect spot. It is closed in huge storms.”

Park
“This is our favorite hike to do in town! It's about 3 miles round trip to the top of the Astoria Column and back. It is a shorter walk if you just decide to go to the giant, old hollowed-out tree and back. ”

Park
“This is my favorite place to lounge around on a sunny day at the beach. Also, there is a point that blocks the wind coming from the North, so it's a good place to go on a windy day”
