“The Tideland Trail in Cedar Point is part of the Croatan National Forest. It is in the Cedar Point Recreation area and is only a couple of miles from La Casita. Go across the White Oak River to Cedar Point. Turn left at the light by the bank just before the 24/58 intersection. Turn left at the stop sign. ”

“The Tideland National Recreation Trail meanders through the salt marsh and its adjoining forest. Two loop trails: 0.6 miles through salt marsh, and 1.3 mile loop follows the edge of the White Oak River. Excellent for spotting birds and other wildlife. Located located at the Cedar Point Campground which is off NC 58 about 1.5 miles north of the junction of NC 24 and NC 58. See website for more details. ”

“Atlantic Beach has worked very hard to create a town park providing entertainment opportunities for locals and visitors. A great put-put park will entertain the entire family. There is a splash pad and playground for younger children, and a skateboard park for tweens and teens. Restrooms are available as well as drinks. Drinks and picnics can be enjoyed on tables under umbrellas. ”

“The park is open: visitor center, mainland park, kayak launch (new), as is ferry service to Bear Island. Ferry service is available through the end of October. Bear Island is wonderful for fishing also shelling after a storm. Huggins Island is open, Jones Island is still in clean up after Hurricane Flo. See website for updates and details. ”
