Sushi Restaurant
$$$
“What I love here is that a lot of their sushi comes from different prefectures of Japan. They’ll be able to tell you where each type of fish is coming from. They have an omakase menu based on what’s available, or you can order à la carte. They make a good sunomono, black cod with squid miso, and delicious agedashi tofu. Last time I was here, the sushi bar seating was full, so I sat in the dining room, which was very intimate. They only have a couple of tables in there, so it’s not very distracting. Definitely a good spot for a date night.”

“This is one of my favorite French bistros in the city. Choose from all the delicious styles of mussels, with pomme frites and a bottle of wine. Sit outside on the private, pedestrian only alley. It's like a slice of Europe in the middle of downtown.”

Steakhouse

“Sam’s is great seafood. You have to go for the Rex sole. It’s really fun because in the back they have a number of private little rooms, some are little booths for two people, almost like in a train, with a curtain that you pull closed, or some are these rooms that have sort of sliding partitions that you can fit any size party in. They do not take reservations for lunch—you have to just go there and stand and wait for your table. I don’t care who you are, they will not take your reservation. You never know who you’re going to run across. You’ll be standing talking to somebody, and you’ll find out it’s a celebrity.”

“Mediterranean street food open on weekdays for lunch and dinner. From their website: "The word, “sababa,” is a popular slang term used in Hebrew and Arabic that conveys satisfaction and contentment, best manifested by the internationally recognized symbol of a “thumbs up”. Sababa is the feeling our patrons experience when they bite into a falafel sandwich loaded with unique and delicious salads, pickles and sauces, or sip a cold beer after work with friends. Our novel concept brings Middle Eastern street food to the public, using the highest quality ingredients presented in a thoughtfully designed atmosphere. Our goal is to bring the pita sandwich and falafel into the mainstream of US cuisine. "”
