“Castelo. The view from under the umbrella pines on the Castle’s esplanade takes in Alfama, the Baixa, Bairro Alto on the hill opposite, and the river. The light here is particularly warm in the late afternoon, encouraging you to linger.”

“Lisbon Cathedral is one of the city's gems and one of the most significant monuments in the country, due to its historical, religious and artistic value. Its construction began in 1147, when the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, reconquered the city from the Moors. ”

“This romantic terrace by the church of Santa Luzia introduces visitors to Alfama with a sweeping view over its houses, churches, and the Tagus River. On an outside wall of the church are two tile panels, one of Trade Square before the earthquake, and another showing Christians attacking St. George's Castle in 1147. The cafe on the terrace is a good place for a drink before climbing to the castle nearby. Ride Lisbon's metro, buses, and trams for FREE with the Lisbon Card.”

“This is one of the most romantic spots in Lisbon. It's a landscaped terrace next to a small church of the same name, offering a beautiful panoramic view of the city's oldest district, Alfama. The dome of the National Pantheon, Santo Estêvão Church and São Miguel Church stand out among the sea of rooftops below, while the vines that climb up the pergola provide shade on the upper level. The lower terrace allows you to stay in the sun by a reflecting pool. At the center of the bougainvillea garden is a bust of Lisbon historian Júlio de Castilho, and behind it are two tile panels -- one illustrating St. George's Castle being taken over from the Moors in 1147, and the other showing Comércio Squa”

“It is only 1,6 km from hotel Vila Queirós. Faced by soft-toned buildings and the Decorative Arts Museum, this is a popular stop for photographers, with its stunning view from São Vicente de Fora Monasteryto the waterfront.  There is also a statue of St. Vincent (the city's patron saint) holding a boat with two ravens, the symbols of Lisbon. ”

“So: this place is a mess! But it is a delicious experience: specialized in Moçambique food, the meals come in portions for at least 2 people for an amazing price. The staff are very kind and help you to decide what to order but be aware that they might take hours to get your order or serve your table, if they do not forget about it. It is one of this places to go for a whole afternoon or at evening before party and enjoy the small tables at the street, with lots of patience! ”

“One of the best viewpoints of Lisbon. A nice, little park and a fantastic view on the maze of red roofs that form the Alfama-quarter and beyond those roofs the shimmering blue of the Tagus. And if you have sore feet from climbing and descending through the narrow streets then you can let them cool off in the water of the pond.”
