Learn what it takes to be a Pizzaiolo
We're back! It was a long two years. All that's needed now are your hands, your passion, and a little guidance from us and you'll be making and eating exceptional pizza. First I’ll show you how to make dough … and eat a little pizza. I'll teach you about the importance of time and temperature, about different yeasts and how to make poolish. Oh... it's recess... gotta eat some pizza. Next we'll practice what is probably the hardest yet funnest part of all.... opening up a Neapolitan pizza ball. You'll learn to massage the dough, so the air moves outward toward the edge - otherwise known as the cornicione. Now, take a moment , have some pizza. You deserve it. Then you'll learn to dress the pizza and then then launch it into the wood-fired oven. There's no turning back now. In 90 seconds your pizza will be finished. We'll practice this over and over using the same techniques I learned from a world champion. This will be the best class ever because you get to eat your homework!

Best of Berkeley History Walking Tour
Hear about the history and culture that makes Berkeley one of the most famous cities in the world. We'll stroll safely through campus and the surrounding areas. This activity is 100% outdoors, and attendance is limited so the conversation can flow more easily. We'll meet at 2150 Shattuck Avenue, next to the downtown Berkeley BART station. We'll learn about Berkeley's downtown area, then cross through UC Berkeley's campus alongside tree-lined Strawberry Creek. We'll pass by the Free Speech Cafe and talk about Berkeley's protests. Finally, we'll walk the historic route from Sproul Plaza to People's Park. Afterward you can shop for one-of-a-kind jewelry and t-shirts on Telegraph Avenue. A number of restaurants are now open, so you can grab some lunch. Other things to note: This is a history-focused tour, but the topics we cover during our walk are flexible based on everyone's interests. Please be sure to tell Pam what topics you are most interested in and she can also adjust at any point in the tour based on the questions and topics that guests bring up as we stroll from downtown Berkeley to People's Park. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. I also recommend sunscreen and cash for refreshments and street artists. There are lots of great options for lunch and activities after the tour.

Create a flower sculpture centerpiece
Each guest will create a floral sculptural centerpiece arranged with fresh flowers, many of which have been grown in my garden or sourced locally. I will guide you with your design, use of color and texture incorporating lots of blooms, and fragrant greens, like eucalyptus and herbs. First you'll use pliers (provided), to bend and perfect a wire structure that fits inside the vase you choose, to support an abundance of flowers of various heights. Super reusable, this "frog" will make all your future arrangements so much easier to make. Then you will begin to zero in on your sculpture, closest to the vase lip, weaving foliage into layers. You'll continue with blooms of all sizes (from buckets of conditioned, hydrated flowers) and finish with colors that might be growing in front of you. From color choices to height and shape, I will help you learn some techniques to build an arrangement that makes you proud and happy with your effort! The final flourish captures what you have made in my professional portrait studio and I share the files with you. Over the past four years, this experience has been enjoyed with friends celebrating a birthday, sisters celebrating a Mother's Day, team building workshops, and couples having a lovely art and floral DIY morning together. Learning a few tricks for arranging your flowers is so satisfying.
