Rustic 300 year old farmhouse cottage in remote private Victorian country estate, Carmarthenshire, south west Wales.

Large kitchen, lounge with sofa bed and woodburner, leading to conservatory with views across the valley, bathroom, one bedroom, private garden area.

I am 71 and no one apart from myself and my daughter has been inside my part of the property since March 23rd. I welcome guests who will respect social distancing and other covid related advice.

Boligen
There is a large farmhouse kitchen with Electric cooker with oven and fridge with freezer, together with microwave etc. The kitchen stable door opens out onto the back garden.

The main bedroom is along the landing a double bed and ample cupboard space plus original oak shutters; next along is the main bathroom with sink, WC and shower/bath and fitted airing cupboards

The lounge has a sofa-bed that sleeps one/two, a TV and sofa, some chairs, and the conservatory entrance. It features original shutters and several antique stained glass windows, reclaimed doors plus stand-alone antique furniture pieces.

The conservatory is seated along both sides and opens out onto the garden at the rear, which in turn is surrounded by fields (with occasional sheep wandering around).

The listing has been altered from April 2019, with the addition of the wood-burning stove plus improvements to the kitchen facilities, and overall decoration.
It is now all on one floor, and accommodates fewer people but to a higher standard!
There is oil- fired central heating, plus the new woodburner in the sitting room.

There are many original features in this unique property, built in 1738, including a large stone archway between the living room and the conservatory, beautiful oak A-frames, shutters. There are also double-glazed conservation roof windows in every room.

The farmhouse looks out onto the Dolwilym Estate situated in the river Tâf valley. The mansion plus the various converted buildings are the only properties in this splendidly secluded valley. Our only neighbours are bats, owls, woodpeckers, herons, foxes, badgers etc. There are many ancient and beautiful trees . . oak, ash, beech, etc plus many rhododendrons, azaleas, bluebells and daffodils.

Given that there is no light or sound pollution here, on a clear night, shooting stars are commonplace, visible in amongst the multiple layers of stars and this can be truly magical, especially when the only sounds are owls hooting amongst the trees.

Dolwilym was the one-time home of the Garrick acting family who referred to it as their 'Happy Valley'. It has been my home for over 30 years.

Please be aware that there are steps up to the entrance to the property. This entrance is exclusively for guests as is the garden area and is completely separate from my personal accommodation.

Her skal du være

Llanglydwen, Hebron, Storbritannien

The most extra-ordinary thing about the Dolwilym estate is its location.

Dolwilym Farm is at the top of the estate, and has been converted from 300 + year old outbuildings into several gorgeous living spaces.

A little further down the track is a recording studio coupled with a log cabin which is used as residential commercial studio.

Further down the track still are the main houses, consisting of two converted outbuildings, the original mansion kitchen (the mansion itself has been knocked down), a coach house, a stable, a chicken shed, a pigsty, and an outdoor swimming pool and garden.

Following the track around you will see the original walled garden, this is also viewable from the cottage.

The track then loops around and goes back up to the top where St Cledwyn's church is situated.

All of this land is private, and all properties face down Dolwilym valley towards the river Taf.

There are Tescos in both Haverfordwest and Carmarthen about 30mins away. Tescos will also deliver.

There is a local shop and garage that serves fish & chips roughly 5 mins drive away.

The nearest pub (Peny Bont) is 12mins walk in Llanglydwen.

The Market town of Narberth is 15 minutes down the road with various trendy restaurants and shops and pubs.

Tenby, Saundersfoot, Pembroke and Manorbier are just a few gorgeous tourist locations to visit with castles and beaches a-plenty on the Pembrokeshre coastline. Heading up to Cardiganshire there is Cardigan, Mwnt, St Dogmaels, Newport, Fishguard again featuring castles, beaches, churches, chapels, coastal walks, and a plethora of other stunning places of natural beauty and wildlife.

Many of the local towns have a lively night life, with pubs, music venues, restaurants, hotels and clubs all catering to tourists out to enjoy the local culture.

For sporty types the local area is good for: fishing, canoeing, swimming, diving, snorkeling, horse riding, surfing, golf, off-road motoring, cycling, running, hiking, sailing, etc.

The Preseli mountains are as steeped in local history as the Dolwilym Estate, and are a stonesthrow away. There are a host of iron age forts across the mountains, including Foel Drigarn just outside Crymych, and Castell Henllys in Newport, which is a tourist friendly site.

Just outside Pembroke you will also find unusual places such as Bosherston lily ponds, leading onto Barafundle beach, which is a lovely walk through the ponds to this beautiful sandy beach, listed as one of the ten top beaches in the UK.

Further along the coast is Manorbier castle, which is the location used to film the original TV series of Narnia (The Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe), also popular with surfers!

Tenby (little England in Wales) is a picturesque period town 18 miles from Dolwilym, with glorious beaches, a castle, endless tourist attractions, pubs, restaurants, boat trips to Caldey Island to see the monastery, plus much more.

The Witch's Cauldron can be found in Cardiganshire in the other direction, accassible via the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, it is an axtra-ordinary blow hole in the cliff side frequented by seals, and the occasional porpoise...

Newport is a short distance from Dolwilym and is another attractive period seaside town with great pubs and restaurants, a small castle, a golf club, and fantastic walks.

Dolwilym is my family home and we all adore the unique and stunning location. I have lived here for many years, raised my three daughters here and regularly entertain my grandchildren here. I now live here with my dog Mud. I'm an avid reader, and enjoy travelling whenever I get the chance. I have previously run antiques businesses both here and in Hastings, to which the historical architecture, furniture and curios at Dolwilym Farm will attest! I also now sell Antiques & curios locally, at ‘Bazaar’ in Narberth. I hope you enjoy my beautiful home and its surroundings as much as my family and I do.

My apartment is completely separate although part of the original farmhouse (built in 1738). I will be on hand most of the time to help out or answer any questions you may have.

The cottage is fully equipped with all the necessary amenities however. You are welcome to use my washing machine on request.

There are so many places of natural beauty and history in the local area: feel free to ask for suggestions as to which activities would suit you and where to go.
