Private room, private bathroom, private entrance. Single occupancy. Large room with vaulted ceilings at the back of my Victorian home, newly renovated with Mexican traditional tile and maximal natural light. If you want a quiet retreat setting on a longer journey, or are simply passing through for work and need easy access to the throughways in all directions, this is a perfect Marin rest stop. Located across the street from the Bay with stunning views, beach access close by. Longtime host!

Boligen
You can park directly by the house on the street, then walk up stairs to a large patio, and beyond that find your room with its own private entrance at the rear of house. There are no views from the room, but you can see them from the patio sitting area.

The guest room is connected by a locked door to my home. You will hear ambient sounds of my household - although I've been a host for a decade and certainly orient my life toward quietude and respect for weary travelers. Additionally, being removed from the street on a large lot with respectful neighbors means that the room is very quiet, practically silent during the night hours. Enjoy great tranquility while being only a few blocks from the 580 freeway on the other side of the hill.

I'm a quiet, hardworking artist with a spiritual practice as my profession (Mayan astrology), so the vibe here is grounded, peaceful and restorative. Contrary to what people think about prisons, San Quentin is also grounded, peaceful and restorative (I volunteer inside and even the incarcerated men say so, as far as prisons go) and being in proximity is truly humbling and full of grace. It makes for a reflective stay, and people have said it's like a retreat space to be here.

San Quentin has a beach where people exercise their dogs and swim year-round. The views of the Richmond Bridge and the San Francisco Bay are beautiful, and on a clear day you can see all the way to the Bay Bridge and Port of Oakland. The ferry to and from the City powers by, as well as rowing crews, seals and bird life. It's an undiscovered gem of a small bayside township, and you will feel miles away from the bustle that exists in the rest of the immediate Bay Area surroundings.

I live at the gateway to San Quentin Prison. I hope you won't find that a deterrent, but it should be disclosed. Because the prison has been in place for a couple of centuries, the town adjacent is full of old architecture and is less bougie than the rest of Marin County, in a good way! Simple Victorians with stunning views set on big open lots overlook the incredible view of San Francisco Bay. The comparisons are to Sausalito or Tiburon, without all the decades of exclusivity and wealth.

I am a teacher at the prison, so my view of it is very favorable. In terms of security, there's an armed guard 100 yards from my parking area, so there is no theft or other criminal activity in our neighborhood! The prison itself is a quarter of a mile past the entry gate, beyond another set of fortress structures, so you won't have any sense of the population or activity inside. Its own architectural grandeur is what will be most noticeable.

I've been a host since the early days of Airbnb - almost a decade at a couple of locations in Santa Barbara. I joined to create a local, affordable alternative to the expensive vacation stay rentals in that area, and I fell in love with the constant flow of happy travelers bringing excited, relaxed energy to my home. I stopped mid-COVID and sold my Santa Barbara property to relocate to Marin County, where I grew up.

My new Airbnb rentals bring a confluence of the Southern California warmth and open-heartedness to the original Bay Area countercultural/art vibe I grew up in. I am an artist/writer and professional astrologer who has always wanted to create special enclaves in my home spaces that are filled with light, space, color - and character.

To that end, notice I live next to San Quentin Prison - a blend of institutional intensity and beautiful architecture. It's along the water and away from the din of Marin's main bustle, but also features an armed guard 100 yards away. The presence of the prison is what attracted me to this location, because it is 'real' and more sobering than a lot of the affluence and material indulgence of the Bay Area in recent years. Being in an 1888 Victorian that was built in the earliest era of the prison is historic and beautiful, and my goal is to preserve it and the old school experience of being from this region before it boomed with the internet generation.
