For convenience, the photos in our shows a number of interesting places nearby which we´ve marked with numbers, indicating fastest possible traveling time to them from our place- of course this can differ according to driving speed and volume of traffic. Our figures are therefore based on the smallest possible time. For example it is possible to visit geothermo area in only 15 minutes. Much near, in the back yard, there is a iceage cliff ( lava in Reykjavik area is usally young, from before last iceage and therefore scratched and sharp. From the national airport to us (next town) you will see such lava as far as the eye can reach, covered in moss the lava plain seems neverending. Then we have older lava which from volcanos before last iceage (11,700 years ago). That lava has no moss and slides smoothly due to the weight of the ice age glaciers that covered most of the country at that time. From that cliff one has a view over the entire town over to Reykjavik (Be sure to right click on each picture and then choose "view picture" for full resolution magnification).

GOVERMENT OF ICELAND: "Important information for tourists in Iceland about COVID-19:" "Restrictions in effect during ban on gatherings Applicable restrictions The regulation on the restrictions on gatherings during the pandemic entered into effect on 10 December 2020 and will remain in effect up to and including 12 January 2021. The regulation does not apply to international airports or ports or to aircraft and shipping between countries and fishing vessels. The regulation also does not apply to healthcare institutions, nursing homes and other comparable institutions. These institutions shall set special rules on infection prevention measures. A separate regulation has been brought into effect for school activities. This regulation will remain in effect to 31 December 2020. New rules on school will enter into force on 1 January 2021. Limits to the number of people and social distancing do not apply to children born 2005 or later. Special rules applicable to schools. Number limits, proximity limits, mask use Limits to the number of people: The maximum number of people allowed in the same location is ten persons, with certain restrictions, both in public and private locations. This limit, however, does not apply to persons in the same household. Children: Limits to the numbers of children, social distancing and obligation to wear a mask do not apply to children born 2005 or later. Restrictions on the number of people do not apply to public transport, coach travel, domestic flights, passenger ferries and the work of response units (such as the police, fire-fighters, Civil Protection assistants and healthcare workers). In addition, the provision does not apply to the work of the government, the State Council, Alþingi (Parliament), the National Security Council and when the courts exercise their judicial powers. Social distancing rules At all workplaces and in all other activities, e.g. teaching, lectures and church services, the 2-metre distance limit between people who are not closely linked must be ensured.
