Boligen
The "COURTYARD ROOM" - this listing is for a “private room”; adjacent to the courtyard and gardens towards Mt Tauhara; situated in a quiet, safe neighbourhood with private main entrance, accommodating sleeping for up to 2 adults.

This "Retro style" home comprising the entire upper floor is large and the private north facing gardens out the back are even larger; included is an upper deck with genuine thatch umbrella, above a covered conservatory and courtyard; these surround the “Courtyard Room” and 2 other rooms (that share the main bathroom, separate toilet); and the common spaces.

Out front there is a deck and thermal bath; with commanding south facing views of the township across Lake Taupō to the Mountains of the UNESCO dual World Heritage National Park, Kaimaniwa Ranges and beyond. This deck also connects and shares the views with the lounge and dining rooms.

- The common spaces; (lounge, dining, kitchen, gardens and outdoor areas including thermal bath); are shared with others; UNLESS YOU ARE BOOKING THE "ECO-LUX" ENTIRE HOME LISTING.

Rest your feet in the naturally hot ’n’ healing thermal waters, or slip in for a relaxing “top to toe” soaking and enjoy the magical ever changing views on offer, or shelter under the thatch umbrella - among the rear garden's wildlife.

The home is an iconic; "Californian Ranch" design (with a Spanish twist) designed by Sean's father, and built by him together with local builder Eamon Conner in 1965. The gardens were created by renowned Landscape Architect Ted Smyth. Here you are surrounded by native flora, fauna and wildlife such as Tui, Fantail and Wax eye; and the odd Hedge-hog or Pukeko running through – there is plenty of room to spread out and relax; it’s very easy to just “be”, and harder to leave ...but you can always come back.

FREE ultra-fast WiFi and NETFLIX is available on a large SMART TV in the lounge,

Woolen underlay, electric blankets, feather pillows and 100% cotton sheets; together with natural and sustainable geothermal resources readily on hand, provide radiant heating to ensure you’ll be cozy, warm; and enjoying lovely hot showers.

Complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate as well as a selection of spices and condiments are freely available to you while here.
- A "really yummy" Continental breakfast is also available upon request at $25 per person, (let Sean know prior to arrival as he likes to get fresh produce ready).
- Alternatively full kitchen facilities are available for your use if you bring your own (B.Y.O); or you can make use of the many cafés and restaurants that are nearby.

If arriving late (especially on weekends or holidays) and want to eat out, I strongly recommend booking ahead; please don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations or assistance (when planning or en-route) for this or any activities and services.
For more on this please refer to the “Interaction with guests” and “The Neighborhood” sections below.

For your convenience
- In each room a booklet with WiFi codes, important numbers, evacuation procedures, House Rules, brochures of attractions and various services;
- and there are various “Restaurant” and “Take-away” menus located in kitchen; 2nd draw down, next to the fridge.

For my convenience
- Please don’t remove pages from any booklets; just photograph them if you need to.
- Please feel free to message or email me the language component of my signage / booklets I got wrong; together with your recommendation of the appropriate passage to compare and replace it with, Thank you.

Her skal du være

Taupo, Waikato, New Zealand

Situated is an established, quiet, and safe neighbourhood; "66 on Ngauruhoe" is...
- only 02 km stroll along the lake front to the centre of town,
- only 02 blocks from petrol station, shops and restaurants,
- only 02 minutes from DeBretts Hot Thermal Pools; after/before a hard days play,
- only 90 seconds to the lake front (being 1 street back) and
- only 90 minutes to the North Island Ski Fields, UNESCO dual World Heritage Park
and famous “Tongariro Crossing”.
...we really are CENTRAL TO EVERYTHING

Taupō has a host of activities on offer when you feel like adventure, or simply enjoy a stroll along the lakefront. Renowned as NZ’s ULTIMATE PLAY-GROUND, this is the adventure capital of New Zealand with multiple activities on offer –bungy jumping / swing, sky diving, mountain biking, jet boating, fishing, gliding, and 3 golf courses (including Wairakei International Golf Course / Bird Sanctuary) as well as various thermal pools and attractions, all in close proximity.

To the south the “Tongariro Trout hatchery”, snow skiing and boarding, and the latest attraction to the mountain (summer or winter) is the “Sky Waka” Gondola; and all are just 30 - 90 minutes away.
- so why not base yourself here and enjoy a hot thermal swim at day’s end with a "Seanie Special" (delicious Paua fritters, NZ fish, and garlic chips - very decadent); from our local "Fish'n'Chippie".

Taupō hosts Ironman in March each year and many other events including the Great Lake Cycle Challenge.

Everything you need for a refreshing break is on hand... kick back, relax, and recharge at “66 on Ngauruhoe”

From Tourism New Zealand
The beautiful Lake Taupō is about the size of Singapore – more of an inland sea really.
It was created nearly two thousand years ago by a volcanic eruption so big it darkened the skies in Europe and China. Visit the Craters of the Moon and you'll see evidence of the lake's fiery birth in the geysers, steaming craters and boiling mud pools. At some of Lake Taupō's beaches, swimmers and paddlers can enjoy warm, geothermal water currents.

Just north of Lake Taupō you'll find New Zealand's most visited attraction, the magnificent Huka Falls, where more than 220,000 litres of water thunder over the cliff face every second.

Taupō is a great lake for water-skiing, sailing and kayaking. The Maori rock carvings at Mine Bay, which can only be seen from the water, make for a great boat trip or kayaking excursion.
The forests surrounding the lake offer hiking and mountain biking to suit all levels of experience.

But what Taupō is really known for is hunting and fishing. Expert fly-fishing guides are available to take you to the best rivers, and the town of Turangi has the largest natural trout fishery in the world.

Taupō provides a convenient base for exploring Tongariro National Park, whether it be walking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing (New Zealand's most popular day walk) or skiing at Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields.

Great Lake Taupō is centrally located in the middle of the North Island, approximately 3 1/2 hours drive from Auckland and 4 1/2 hours drive from Wellington. There's a genuinely friendly culture here!
