If you are looking for a lovely break away right on the Cornish coast with fantastic ocean and coastal views, then look no further than our studio apartment in the historic Fort Picklecombe on the beautiful Rame Peninsular, tucked away in the S/East corner of Cornwall.

Less than 2 miles from the old fishermen’s Cornish villages of Kingsand & Cawsand and on the outer edges of the Mount Edgcumbe Estate, we have lovely woodlands behind us and the tranquil waters of Plymouth Sound in front.

Our apartment is light, open plan, cosy and comfortable; it may be small but it’s perfectly formed and has all the fixtures and fittings that you'll need. We’ve aimed to make a ‘home from home’ and it’s ideal for two people to relax and spend time together, whilst enjoying the fantastic views, interesting ceiling shapes, beautiful walks and very peaceful location.

If you want to wake up to the sounds and views of the sea or just watch the world go by, then this is place for you - whatever the weather, even when it rains or there's a storm, it is still great to watch it all happen from the cosiness of inside the Fort.

A large fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, TV, DVD Player, WiFi, bath with electric shower over, electric heated towel rail, large bright sofa and a double bed that you can look out to sea from; should provide you with everything you need to recharge your batteries or use as an ideal base to explore Cornwall and Devon.

We supply bedding, towels (not beach towels), shampoo and shower gel and we'd recommend that you bring walking shoes/boots and/or wellies; a waterproof coat and umbrella (got to love the British weather!); suncream, swimwear (and maybe a wetsuit) if you fancy braving the sea.

We have an eclectic taste in our furniture with a combination of both unusual, quirky items and modern, stylish new ones, so we hope you like it all as much as we do.

You can watch a variety of boats, ships, kayakers, ferries and even submarines glide passed; take a stroll on the beach right outside your window or head off for a Cornish Cream Tea and then come back to enjoy a glass of wine or a gin & tonic on the balcony whilst watching the sunset over the hills and villages.

Fort Picklecombe itself has a lift or stairs to each floor as well as a safe & secure basement car park with allocated parking for one car. Its fun to walk through the atmospheric corridors to get to your side of the Fort.
If you need space for more than one vehicle, there is a Visitors Car Park up near the entrance and beside the tennis courts.

There is a communal laundry room with washing machines and tumble driers and also a small library tucked away down one of the corridors with a great selection of books, games and DVDs which are available for use too.

There is a comprehensive communal refuse/waste bin and recycling area by the harbour.

Please note, we do not allow any pets in our apartment.

Her skal du være

Maker, England, Storbritannien

Perfectly located near the villages of Millbrook, Kingsand & Cawsand; the wide open beaches of Whitsand Bay and the bustling city of Plymouth which you can either drive to or catch either the Cremyl Ferry to the historic Royal William Yard with its wide choice of restaurants or the smaller Cawsand Ferry into the heart of the old Barbican via the Mayflower Steps.

If you are attending a wedding either at Polhawn Fort or Whitsand Fort, then there are a number of local taxis firm that can take you from your own Fort to those Forts!

In one direction you have the twin villages of Kingsand & Cawsand which have a number of great local pubs serving delicious food along with a post office, gift stores, ice cream & pasty shops, a bakery with wood fired pizzas in the summer, narrow Cornish lanes and a small convenience store, whilst in the other direction, you have the Mount Edgcumbe Estate with its majestic country home, delightful gardens, ponds, woodlands and grounds, the famous Camellia trail (when in season), tea room at The Stables and also The Orangery, a number of local artisan shops and another pub down by the passenger Cremyl Ferry to Plymouth.

There is also a Segway place in Mount Edgcumbe which we tried last summer and was great fun; so definitely worth a go if you fancy something a bit different.

Or, why not take the car and explore further afield into Cornwall and Devon to enjoy the beautiful beaches; interesting towns, the wild Moors and local hospitality.

In Plymouth, we have the National Marine Aquarium; the Barbican with its cobbled streets, the historic Mayflower Steps, the new Box Museum and plenty of restaurants, tea rooms, cafes and galleries; the famous Hoe with Smeatons Lighthouse where Francis Drake stood watching the Spanish Armada approach whilst playing bowls, along with the modern Drakes Circus Shopping Mall with most of the national leading high street brands.

Whether you choose to spend your time exploring or relaxing, you are sure to have a comfortable stay in our 'home from home' apartment.
