Orton 3 miles. A delightful stone-built cottage, ideally situated amongst beautiful rolling countryside in the hamlet of Kelleth, three miles from the village of Orton in Cumbria. Boasting lovely views of the valley and surrounding fells, this unusual, individually-styled Lakeland cottage has been designed for couples wanting to get away from it all and enjoy a romantic retreat in wonderful surroundings. Featuring an open plan design, hence the unusual and innovative layout, this Cumbria holiday home has a galleried king-size double bedroom that overlooks a huge central sitting room. The sitting room at your Lakeland cottage is spacious and relaxing and includes an interesting heating system, a grand piano, a beautiful period woodburning stove, lots of books and all kinds of architectural features you are unlikely to find anywhere else, including a corrugated tin wall and a reclaimed Georgian staircase, which houses built-in children's bunks underneath. Completing the accommodation at this Orton cottage is a kitchen and a bathroom with a 1930s cast iron bath. The surrounding landscape is green and bronze, alive with wild flowers, and you can cycle or walk for miles without seeing a soul. Nearby Orton has a pub, a chocolate shop and a village store, while five miles to the east, at Ravenstonedale, there is a short golf course and two excellent pubs, both of which serve food. The Settle-Carlisle Railway, the Yorkshire Dales, the Cumbrian Fells and the hills and lakes of the Lake District are all within easy reach, plus the market town of Kirkby Stephen is a short drive away. A great retreat and an excellent base from which to explore the wonders of Cumbria.
