New upstairs 1 bedroom apartment on seven wooded acres. Full kitchen. East- facing balcony for sunrise and west- facing back deck for sunsets, put you up in the trees! Very private, full of natural light. Quiet setting with total privacy. Deer and wildlife in abundance and plenty of room for quiet walks. The Barn doe's not have Wifi or cable but most of our guest are here for the quiet space anyway so we don't think it's been missed at all. Personal hot spots work well however.

Boligen
Owners live on the 7 acre property and are always available for questions and help. We have a ping pong table and a croquet set for extra fun. Joe is available for info re hiking and biking in the National forest - 30+ years experience! Suzanne's "Books in the Woods" used bookstore is available by appointment for visiting "book worms".

Gæsteadgang
Guest have complete access to the top floor of the Barn and are encouraged to stroll across the property and through the neighborhood.

Beliggenhed

Quilcene, Washington, USA

Quilcene is the gateway to the USFS Buckhorn Wilderness and many hikers and backpackers visit each year to take advantage of the spectacular beauty in the higher elevations of the eastern Olympic Mountains. Marmot pass is a destination trail and though it is usually busy in the summer, the fall is the perfect time to find solitude while enjoying amazing alpine scenery. The lower Big Quilcene Trail is a very popular and gentle trail that is good for those folks looking for a river side trail that wanders through stands of old growth and second growth forest. These trails and others like them are located within twenty miles of Quilcene.

I am a retired carpenter who is very active in mountain sports especially mountain biking and climbing. I have spent six or seven years as a crew leader working with high school aged youth, on trails in the Olympic forest. One of my current outdoor projects is locating and documenting the circumference and height of larger trees in the Olympic National forest Usually this means trees with at least 15 foot circumference and requires bushwacking beyond the end of the trail, into the heart of the forest. Sometimes when you are walking up to a really big one, you can actually feel it before you see it. My partner Suzanne is a talented artist who works with pressed plants and has created a beautiful line of custom greeting cards. She is a serious book lover and is currently developing a bookstore on the property that specializes in British writers. We have both lived on the Olympic Peninsula for over thirty years and plan on traveling as often as we can, exploring our own country, especially the south western United States, when we're not hosting that is. Even then we truly believe we live in a beautiful and unique place with both grand mountains and lots of blue water.
