The Lodge is an award winning Queenslander pole home, just one and a half kms from the beach. Guest accommodation, separate to the main house, is fully en suite. We have a great swimming pool with a waterfall feature - it has just got to be the best in the area. The lush tropical grounds with lots of native plants attract scores of birds and butterflies, including the Ulysses. A daily visitor to the Lodge is the regal Cassowary.

The Lodge, set in World Heritage Rainforest is just one and a half kms from one of the most beautiful beaches in Queensland.

Guest accommodation, separate to the main house, is fully ensuite and has an outside sitting area, overlooking the magnificent gardens.

We have a beautiful salt water swimming pool with a waterfall feature, where often a Cassowary will come walking by - it has just got to be the best in the area.

The colourful grounds have a tropical feel to them - lots of native plants to attract scores of birds and butterflies, including the bright blue Ulysses, and the bright green Cairns Birdwing.

There is a large guest lounge - complete with TV, reference books, book swap library, games (Trivial Pursuit, chess, backgammon, cards etc..). We have laundry facilities for your convenience and complimentary high speed Internet across the property.

We can arrange tours for you and have brochures on all the main tour operators in the area, the majority of them pick up/drop off at Licuala Lodge.

We have a resident Cassowary that frequently visits the Lodge - so if you have not seen this magnificent and endangered bird in the wild - this is your chance. Other wildlife around the house include a pair of nesting Yellow Sunbirds, a number of Pademelons, Kookaburras, numerous other birds and a very inquisitive Rusty Lace Monitor Lizard.

Mission Beach is blessed with several excellent restaurants which are all close by. If you are a bit tired of eating out, we have cooking facilities and a couple of BBQs, and you are welcome to dine on one of our patios or our upper verandah overlooking the floodlit garden.

Extreme sports are available here - Scuba Diving, White Water Rafting and Sky Diving - but most of all you will be knocked over by the tranquility and serenity of Mission Beach. We can even teach you to dive on site, followed by a trip to the Great Barrier Reef ( if you book for around 4 nights), or if this is all too much you can kick back and have a relaxing/remedial massage from our qualified therapist.....

We offer excellent value for money as included in your rate we serve one of the best breakfasts in all Queensland (according to our guests!) - start with a Tropical Fruit Delight (fruits from the garden when in season), a choice of cereals, juice, choose from the cooked item menu, round off with home made bread and cakes, and of course a selection of teas and coffee!

We have it all at Licuala Lodge - why stay anywhere else?

Please note that the Lodge is NOT suitable for children under the age of ten.

Her skal du være

Wongaling Beach, Queensland, Australien

The Lodge is on the fringe of world heritage listed rainforest, located at Mission Beach - where the Rain Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef.

We are surrounded by wildlife and it is usual to be visited by at least 1 Cassowary every day! We have beautiful butterflies, birds, wallabies, pademelons, tree frogs and fruit bats....

There are a variety of local cafes, restaurants and bars nearby, so eating out is not a problem. If you want to cook for yourself we have a large supermarket just 1 km from the Lodge

We are within an easy 15 minute walk to the 14 kms of golden beach, and have several
walking tracks nearby.

We bought Licuala Lodge in June 2019, and run it together as a family business. We moved to beautiful Mission Beach for everything this part of Queensland has to offer - climate, wildlife, adventure, tranquillity and a fabulous community. We are a family of Scuba Divers - we are all instructors and wanted to be able to have easy access to the Great barrier reef, to enable us to offer Dive Training at Licuala Lodge.
