Sara is a Canadian and has years of experience as an Airbnb SUPERhost. She works with food and works at a Yoga studio and loves to make people feel welcome. Eric is a born and raised New Yorker who has a wealth of information about the city and is always willing to sit down and help you plan your routes and give tips on cool things to see.

We have exposed brick & hardwood floors. We are also great friends with all of our Neighbours so you can get a sense of the true culture of brooklyn

Your bedroom offers a fully private space during your stay—no one has access to your room. We offer hostel prices and you get your own room with heater and AC. Two bright windows and comfy REAL beds (many Airbnb In Nyc are blow up beds and don’t have heat in your room!)

Also be CAREFUL about supporting cheating property owners who run illegal NYC Airbnb’s! We live here and this is the only room we Airbnb and this is a fully legal Airbnb. Rent is rising in NYC and illegal Airbnb’s are a major issue for making spaces unaffordable for people.

Also you are welcome to come in and out anytime. If it’s late in the evening and the house is asleep you’re welcome to hang out downstairs if you’d like to still stay up and chat—we get it, you’re on vacation!

We have great water pressure and an instant hot water heater so you never have to worry about cold showers even for larger groups. We are on site and always willing to help and take care of any issues you have.

There are two floors. The first floor is the shared living space, kitchen and half bath (toilet and sink).

Then upstairs there is your room, a full bathroom (with shower/bath tub), washing machine and my room (I have my own bathroom separate from yours) so no morning line ups to deal with! Our best friend, Billy, is an artist and rents another room upstairs as a storage space. You will most likely not see him because he travels a lot for work. But he is here approx 1-3 days a month.

Gæsteadgang
Wifi--fast and high speed

Back yard where you are welcome to smoke--keep in mind we build things and the back yard is also used for building projects. You are welcome to try your hand at blacksmithing anytime!

Full kitchen -- stove, microwave, oven, vitamix, dehydrator--vegan friendly if required

Welcome access to american streaming services like HBO, HULU, Netflix

Air conditioner in room as well as fully heated room for winter time.

You are our guests and you don't have to feel weird about being in someone else's space. We're happy to welcome and host you!

Bathroom on the 2nd floor is yours alone to use. You also have access to the half bathroom on the ground floor which is useful if two people in your group want to get ready at the same time and just need a mirror and sink. My husband and I have our own 3rd bathroom inside of our mast bedroom so you won’t have any issue with morning line ups.

Feel free to store food and pantry items in our kitchen and fridge :) you are welcome to our cubby of Coffee and Tea and Yerba mate

To be clear, you are not renting our home. Your room and bathroom will always be clean, but the shared space is well used house for carpentry work and we have 3 dogs. So we ask respectfully that when you review us after your stay you understand that you are renting the room & bathroom, not the house. We are very open to you coming and enjoying hanging out downstairs, but please understand that is a welcome invitation, not what you are paying for—we’ve had a few reviews claiming that the dining room is full of tools and dirty and that simply is not part of the rental. Your rental is the bedroom and the bathroom and I keep the cleaning fee low and do the work myself to offer a more affordable rate to guests and I just want to be clear so that we are rated on the Airbnb space.

We have 3 lovely adopted dogs and 2 of them who love to snuggle, but if you would prefer are fine to stay up in our room for short term intervals if you're in and out for 1 night. Most who choose to stay with us are very comfortable around dogs (Sara has worked professionally with dogs for years as a foster) and love to have a few days of snuggle pup time during their stay. They are all country/working dogs and they will bark at your arrival, but once they sniff you and if you just ignore them and walk in everything will quiet down.

We are renovating the house ourselves and it's been a year long process. So we will never do anything intrusive to your space but you will see a ladder or some construction materials in our dining area from time to time.

Ocean Hill, Brooklyn, New York

It's is a truly diverse non-gentrified brooklyn neighborhood. Most people here have lived here since the 60s and own their homes, so it's not like other parts of Brooklyn where people are just renting and don't know each other. Our neighborhood has block parties every weekend in the summer and someone is always dragging out their BBQ or relaxing on the stoop in true brooklyn fashion. We live down the street from a lovely local coffee shop called Daily Press which offers up delicious breakfast and coffee on your way to the train station! local eat in spots are soulful foods, chez Oskar, peaches, the green place, and there are lots of local places to grab a jerk chicken to go!

There is a 24 hour deli directly across the street that makes a great lamb over rice. The food is good diner-food and cheap. We also have two lovely coffee shops within 4 blocks walking distance. Lastly there is a large fully stocked grocery store down the street.

It's a super close walk to the C train (2 blocks!) which takes you right to JFK or quickly into Manhattan. Lastly you are close to the L train and J and Z trains which will take you quickly to Williamsburg and bushwick. We are a 15 min walk to bushwick.

I was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, but mainly grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I've recently moved to New York with my partner, Eric, who is originally from Queens. I work with food and am very open to all styles of living. I like to make a lot of things from scratch. An idea of an awesome relaxing Sunday for me would be baking something, going for a walk with my dog, and building something (with hopes of ice cream and laughing). I think my role as a good host is to give you tips and help orient you to our neighbourhood. I want to help you out with things in a way that only a local can. I want you to feel welcome coming out with my friends for an evening, but would never be insulted if that isn't your thing & you'd rather be less involved. I like to discuss your needs & wants and decide upon formal house rules once we have the chance to chat. I have the tendency to babble & I think I may be doing it in this section so I'll leave it at that.

We are happy to be as hands-on or hands-off as you like. Your bedroom is private and you will have the key code or a physical key to the front door, so you can come and go as you please.

We are very open and respectful to different styles of people. Feel free during your stay to message us for anything you may need adjusted for your comfort :) Vegan, kosher (as best as we can), a place to pray--we're happy to make that work for you!
