The Tuckshop, brought to Hartley Vale by the Scouts, is a tastefully converted cabin to enjoy the valley views and wildlife.

There is a large comfortable day bed, a kitchen made from local mountain ash, vintage table and recycled hardwood deck that flows into the garden. The original Victorian boys brick outhouse has gorgeous cedar lined tin roof and old beams. It been renovated from a long drop dunny with cubicles to a real toilet with vintage sink and a shower with hot water!

Boligen
This is a beautiful simple space with small kitchen essentials. Sit on the large deck and stare at the escarpment or enjoy the Hartley Vale local walks up the first roads built to cross over the mountains.

There's a fridge, hotplate, bbq, wifi. You boil the kettle to wash the dishes while you watch the king parrots in the orchard.

Gæsteadgang
You rent the Tuckshop and the Old Boys Outhouse. You are also welcome to use the rest of property, theres an orchard, various outbuildings, a dam and some lovely mature trees on the acreage. The area immediately around the Old School is designated for those guests.

Andre ting, der er værd at bemærke
If driving at dusk, dawn or at night be careful of wildlife or livestock. We are pretty sure you will see a (big) Kangaroo!

On weekdays and long weekends (public holidays) it's a three night minimum or a premium for 2 nights.

Beliggenhed

Hartley Vale, New South Wales, Australien

Hartley Vale is a tiny valley on the west of the Blue Mountains looking up at Mount York and the ridge to Mt Victoria.

Hartley Vale, one of the 'colony's' earlier settlements over the Great Divide, and was known for shale mining. There were once over 200 houses in the vale, while there are now more like 10! The Comet Inn is 200m down the road, but it is seldom open these days. Australia's oldest pub, Collitts Inn is open for lunch on Sundays unless there's a wedding. There's a good wood pizza place on the highway on the way in, and Hartley Saddlery makes a nice strong coffee.

More information about all this in the guide we send out to you once you've booked.

Just down the road is a reserve and the trail head to Lockyer's and Cox's Roads. Great walking tracks up to Mount Victoria and beyond. See if you can find the beautiful Hyde Park waterhole.

Your nearest major town is Lithgow. It has all the supplies you need. And good Aussie burgers from the Blue Bird Cafe beside the Lithgow train station.
