  • Philadelphia Black History Walking Tour
The tour will commence at the Independence Visitor's Center with an introduction to the topic of Black History during the colonial period. You will hear about the role that Black Americans played in the founding of the nation. The group will continue to the President’s House and hear about the 9 enslaved people who were held there. The group will hear about Martha Washington's handmaid who ran away to escape slavery. At the next stop you will see where The Fugitive Slave Act 1793 was passed. The next stop is Congo Square where people of African descent held celebrations. It is also a potter's field where free and enslaved Africans are still buried to this day. The next stop is Mother Bethel AME Church. There is where the African Methodist Episcopal Church was established and is the oldest piece of real estate owned by people of African descent in the United States. You will hear about the liberation of a woman whose owner attempted to abduct her back into slavery and the trial of her rescuers. You will also see the traditional sites of Independence Hall, liberty bell, Congress Hall, and much more Other things to note Masks are required. We will be walking approximately 1.5 miles for the tour on uneven and cobblestoned surfaces. Please wear comfortable and sturdy footwear. We will continue the tour during light rain.

  • Classic Philly History with a Twist
Almost everyone comes to Philly for the amazing history! But not many people get to see the real-life neighborhood that the Historic District is part of. On this tour, we'll take you past many of those Must See places (Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, Christ Church and more), but we'll also show you *our* favorite places in the Old City neighborhood - an adorable coffee shop, charming back streets, early 1900's warehouses that have been converted into apartments, awesome restaurants and shopping, and lots more! We'll even treat you to a local treat along the way! While the main focus of this tour is Philadelphia's history, we will certainly share lots of our own favorite tidbits about Old City and you'll have plenty of time to ask questions at the end. If you're looking to cover all the historical highlights, but don't want the same-old same-old, this is the experience for you! Let us show you the local side of Philly! Other things to note This tour runs rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Personal shopping, additional food and drinks, and gratuity are not included. Some sites may not be open to us on a Sunday or due to Covid.

  • Playtime with rare fainting goats
Located in Benton, Pennsylvania Guests arrive at the main barn (and are happily greeted by our giant white fluffy livestock dog Runa). After a brief orientation for the bathroom (outhouse), sign a release and answer initial questions, the guests will be introduced to the herd in their pen or pasture. The barn pen is used during bad weather, the pasture during warm dry weather. Guests cannot enter the pen for health and safety reasons, but can pet adults and hold as many babies as desired. In the pasture, guests may enter the pasture to pet goats and hold babies. Carrie will give the breed history, as well as talk about shows, production goats, and heritage preservation, the 3 branches of Fainting Goat breeding. Finally, Carrie will talk about Barakah Farm's unique approach to goat care, practiced on only a handful of Fainting Goat farms and described in her book The Energetic Goat. When there are babies, goat cuddling is encouraged! Finally, Carrie will answer any last questions at the goat pen. We hope you leave with a greater appreciation of rare breed preservation, the role of goats in a healthy farm, and the unique and loving personalities of these conscious beings. Don't see your preferred time? Ask us! No pets - advance notice of service animals please. By entering the farm, under Pennsylvania State Law you assume all the risk of equine activity.
