De bedste bedømte ting, man kan tage sig til i Nottinghamshire

Unique activities hosted by local experts vetted for quality

  • Adventures with miniature horse Basil
Basil, the miniature Shetland is the main star of the show! We will begin by walking across the grounds to Basil’s stable where we will groom his coat, giving him breakfast, cleaning his feet and brush his mane. We will then take him for a walk around the property collecting some of his favourite healthy snacks (tree branches & plants). And visiting some of his fluffy friends along the way - Mooona Lisa and the highland cows, Benji the new forrest pony, Bernard the feisty cockerel, and AberaLamb Lincoln and WilliLamb Shakespeare the herdwick rams. I advise bringing Wellingtons or boots as the paddocks can be muddy in winter. Following this we will head over to the walled garden for tea, cakes and pastries. Basil’s coming too don’t worry! You will also have the opportunity to meet any of the other animals should you wish too, but please let us know ahead of time if there’s any in particular you’d like to meet so we can move them to paddocks nearer the house. We will then take Basil back to his paddock with some goodbye treats and hugs! *MORE DATES/TIMES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.* Please enquire if you don’t see the dates you’re looking for. Groups of 2 or more guests please be aware you can book a private session for the same price as a public one. We look forward to meeting you! Other things to note British weather is unpredictable and you may need warm clothing and a rain mac and hiking boots or wellies.

  • Discover Wild Herbs around Grindleford
“Forage your 5-a-day for free & make your own bespoke herb tea!” Put on your walking shoes & come exploring the local wild plants of the Peak District. We will learn medicinal, culinary & other uses for many of the plants we find, brought to life with history, Folk-lore & anecdotes. Be prepared for the world to look a little different when you return, since you will probably be astonished just how interesting so many of our common wild plants are! These Herb Walks are great for couples & private groups. They are relaxed & gentle, normally lasting about 3 hours, with plenty of time to stop & get to know the plants, including tasting & making tea with them where appropriate! Our meeting point is next to the much loved Grindleford Station Cafe, with regular trains from Sheffield & Manchester. Grindleford is surrounded by amazing walks, with Padley Gorge woodland river, Padley Chapel, & Bolehill Quarry’s magical oak & birch woodlands. We will be spoiled for choice which way to go & can decide together! If you would like a time or date that isn’t shown, please contact me, it can often be arranged. Our meeting point may also be flexible for private bookings. Thank you! COVID UPDATE: If you would like to make a wild herb tea, please bring your own flask of boiling water. Guests are required to keep 2 meters apart from anyone who is not “in their social bubble”.

  • Nutty Nottingham Walking Tour
We begin at The Bell inn, next to Nottingham's Old Market Square and embark on a walk around the main sites, statues and buildings in the city, taking in Hockley, The Lace Market and of course the castle! There is a stop for a drink half way around at a secret location and we finish up at Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, the oldest surviving pub in the world! This is an interactive tour where you get the chance to quiz your guide as well as hear a LOAD of Nottingham-related jokes and facts. Other things to note This tour is suitable for all ages. If there are children on the tour we take care to include them at every point. If there are not, then we can go a little bit further with the content! We can also take you around the city when it suits YOU. Message us to see availability not mentioned on the calendar or just go ahead and request a date!

  • Pottery in the Peak District
Get your hands dirty in the pottery studio! You'll learn how to throw on a wheel and some simple creative techniques to make your pots special. Everyone will at the very least produce a cup and a dish, you'll be able to decorate your work and it'll be included in our next wood kiln firing. Other things to note This experience is tailored for people who are creative, you don't need any experience of pottery... but if you do, great, you can really push your creativity.
