Det skal I lave
This summer holiday we are opening the farm again for a series of farm experiences for all ages so that you and your friends and family can come and meet the animals, see how an organic off grid holding works, and relax with some tasty refreshments while enjoying this beautiful place in the heart of the Tud Valley, Costessey, Norwich. You'll arrive for a 10.30 start with tea, coffee, juice and snacks and meet me, Shona, your host for the morning. You'll get an introduction talk about the farm, why it's unique and how we approach working with nature. From there we will do a tour of the animals on the farm. You'll get to meet, feed and give a cuddle to our friendly rescue sheep, meet our kunekune mini pigs who also love some treats and collect eggs from our rescue chickens. After that you'll definitely need another break before we then head of for our wild nature walk, finding wild flowers and herbs. The event will wrap up around 13.30. For younger children under six, and those who would just like to enjoy a cuppa and relaxing in nature, we have our marquee and green area with an arts and crafts nature station and pic nic rugs dotted around the farm for quiet space and meditation.
Det er inkluderet
Locally baked biscuits and cakes with a selection of fruit.
Treats for the animals
Hi everyone, I'm Shona & I'm the founder & (very hands on!) managing director of Longwater Farm. I've been running this farm with a fantastic group of growers, volunteers & animals for the past five years, providing our local community with organic veggies, & developing high quality courses and free community growing events. I'm an experienced conservation farmer, with a professional background in training, volunteer & community development, organic growing and sustainable living methods, along with being an environmental activist and journalist. When you visit you'll be able to ask questions and learn about this unique off grid model I've developed.
Her skal du være
You will be on our beautiful five small holding in the heart of the Tud Valley, Costessey, Norwich. We will be surrounded by nature and you might be lucky enough to glimpse or hear some of our wildlife treats, such as our resident heron, cuckoo, tawny & barn owls, buzzards, deer, swallows and warblers among other things. It's from this unique setting that you will get to experience what it is like to work and be with animals and nature on a farm.
