Det skal I lave
This is a canoe introduction and coaching day. After a short briefing, we spend our time on the water firstly getting confident and learning the basic manoeuvres before setting out for a longer period of practice undertaking a short journey. The provided lunch is eaten on the bank, hot drinks made with our traditional wood-fired kettle and a lesson on tarp and paddle shelters will be included if the weather is drab. In the afternoon we journey back to near the start point and look at what to do if things start to go wrong (getting wet is optional but a great idea if you are thinking of using canoes alone). This is the first day of a 'Learn to Canoe' weekend, book onto Day 2 for a much longer journey and woodland cooked lunch expedition.
We are a husband, wife and dog team. We have been Canoe coaches for more than 10 years and love the freedom and sense of self-reliance that paddling brings. We have led people on countless canoe trips and activity days across the country and abroad. Most importantly we are patient and skilled coaches who know the venue like the back of our hand. When we decided to offer activities ourselves we committed to doing it right and setting ourselves up to be super accessible and inclusive by default. To that end, we have a range of adaptive seating, canoe stabilisation and grip assistance to include a whole range of additional needs. We also have a powerboat that can provide support, refuge and ensure it is always possible to get home. Qualifications: Vicky: Moderate water UKCC level 2 Coach Chris: 4 star Open Canoe Leader BCU L2
