Det skal I lave
Arrive at Kesennuma Station and we'll meet up there. (If you'd prefer to be picked up at a different location in the city, just let me know!) From there, we can either go directly to the first izakaya on our itinerary, or if you prefer to drop your bags off at your accommodation, we can make a quick stop there. Kesennuma's Minamimachi area is the port city's historic nightlife area. For almost 100 years, this area has been the place where deep-sea fishermen returning to Japan would come to eat, drink and make merry. The vibrance and energy of Minamimachi has kept people coming back to Kesennuma for generations. Over the course of the night, we'll hit up a variety of eat-and-drink establishements so you can get an idea why they call this city one of the "13 Ports of Japan." Some places we might hit up: -Pinpon, the izakaya most-beloved by the locals. A lively fisherman's bar! -Asahizushi, one of Kesennuma's most famous sushi restaurants. -Maruyasu, a historic yakitori restaurant -Tsukamoto Yaoya, a bar which serves fresh local specialties -Seoul Yuu-chan, a restaurant which serves amazing Korean food and sashimi -Mambo, a cafe which has some of the best ramen and desserts around!
I'm an American living in Tohoku, Japan since 2014! In addition to working for the Kesennuma Tourism Bureau. As a foodie and sake-lover, I can introduce you to the very best spots to eat and drink in town. Japan has 3000 fishing ports, but only 13 are considered the "National Fishing Ports of Japan." The seafood you eat here is sourced right here locally, from the beautiful Sanriku Coast. From bonito to swordfish to uni and oysters, there's amazing food to be had year-round. The best seafood in Japan isn't at that fancy restaurant in Tokyo, you've gotta come to the source! Trust me... you've never tasted Japan like this. Tohoku might be far off the beaten path for most visitors to Japan, but there are unique experiences here that you won't find anywhere else. If you need help planning a memorable trip, please reach out to me!

Her skal du være
Minamimachi is Kesennuma's historic nightlife district. Traditionally, this area of town was where fishermen coming back to port would come to eat, drink, and make merry with their friends. Today, it remains a favorite hangout of locals from all walks of life: from fishermen and construction workers, to teachers and public servants. A night out in Minamimachi is the best way to enjoy the best seafood in Japan and connect with the local people.
