Det skal I lave
We'll explore the network of woodland and hilltop footpaths that crisscross this area, where Romans once marched and a king fled for his life! We'll walk through woodlands and if we're lucky we may see some deer. In spring, I'll show you where to find the best bluebell displays, I'll lead you through poppy fields in June, golden cornfields in July and show you beautiful orchids. Exactly what we'll see depends on the season and varies each year. As we walk, depending on your interest, we'll talk about local history, folklore and the disappearing Sussex dialect. The walk then climbs to the top of a hill where the views across the Downs are spectacular, before making our way downhill to the village where we'll see traditional Sussex cottages. Our route ends at the pub that has been the focal point of the village for over 170 years for the chance to buy a drink or a bite to eat (payable locally). They have a good selection of Sussex real ales (as well as wines, spirits, coffee etc). The food here is excellent. Please note that bluebells tend to flower from early/mid April to mid/late May, orchids from April to August, poppies in June, however, the exact dates vary each year and therefore seeing the bluebells/poppies/orchids cannot be guaranteed. I've lived in West Sussex all my life and love sharing the beautiful countryside and the secrets hidden along these sometimes hard to find footpaths. I've researched the area, speaking to locals and local historians to learn more about the layers of history hidden here, reaching back way beyond when the Roman's invaded in 43AD to more than 500,000 years ago. Lions and bears once roamed these woods but you'll have to join me on a walk to find out how we know.

Her skal du være
We'll walk approximately 4 miles through ancient woodlands and fields before following the path of an old Roman Road. From here we'll walk uphill to enjoy the spectacular views across the South Downs where skylarks can be heard singing, before heading down the other side, back to the village where we started. Along the way, we'll learn about local folklore and the people that once lived here dating back over 500,000 years.
