Det skal I lave
We will start this Walking Tour at 8.00 am. We will then have some “Chee Cheong Fun” - (Strongly Recommended) basic Chinese rolled rice noodles served both ways plus “Chinese Fried Devils” ! This is one of the breakfast staple just like what Nasi Lemak or Roti Canai are to Malaysians. If Chee Cheong Fun is not available, Another option is fusion Hainanese-British toasts with kaya or eggs at an Old favourite coffee shop with a Must-Try “Cham” (Coffee-Tea) drink. Fingers food like Chinatown’s old-favourite egg tarts (enterprise started in 1893), mochi & Bar-B-Q meat will also be featured. Authentic Nyonya kuih (finger snacks/savouries) when we travel by LRT to KLCC or KL Sentral. Also featured, are seasonal local fruits -when such fruits are in season. We will burn the calories off by walking the back lanes or alleyways to discover Other Old Favourites Food stalls. We will also have lightning visits/photostop of a Clan house, Little Devils Lane, a Chinese temple & a Hindu temple including a Sikh Gudwara. At each stop, I will share Interesting Tales of the place not told often enough. This walk will end at around 12noon & we will then adjourn for Chinatown’s favourite Beef Noodles or Hainanese Chicken Rice. Don’t worry, we won’t go hungry & thirsty in KL, as we will find something good to get energised.
I am a freelance Licensed Tour Guide. In 1983, I left my little Kampong (Village) for the Big City (Kuala Lumpur or KL) to work. Being away from Home Sweet Home, Street Food thus became the norm. The search for food as good as Mother’s Home-cooked meals became a necessity. Searching for Old Time & Simply Fabulous Simple Food In KL & PJ ( Petaling Jaya) & beyond led to discovering basic comfort foods for the ordinary people in the back lanes, alleys & streets of British Colonial KL - Chinatown, Little India & Kampong Baru etc. This experience will overwhelm you with the fabulous street food in Chinatown & less-known tales or Tales not told quite often enough of British Colonial KL & more.
