Det skal I lave

You will meet me at the J C Slaughter Falls Park at the base of Mt Cootha. Go right to the end of the bitumen road that enters the Park and you will find me at the track sign board. You will follow me up the Summit Track , a gently sloping 1300 m track that leads to the top of the mountain. After 5 minutes we will head off the track for about 50 m. to a small reservoir to check for KIngfishers or other birds. Continuing on the main track we will take a turn to the Aboriginal Arts Trail. You will be shown 4 examples of Aboriginal art undertaken in 1993. Free hand and blow painted hands using natural ochres and charcoal. Stone Arrangement - eggs of the serpent Munta Gutta Stone Arrangement - Munta Gutta protects the river. Face and body stencilled on a rock wall. After viewing these artworks we will return to the main track and proceed to the top of Mt Cootha. At Mt Cootha I will point out the main city highlights and allow you time to buy an icecream or other snack. From here participants can choose to follow me down the mountain on the Mahogany Trail.(1350m) back to the carpark, or alternatively take a bus direct from Mt Cootha to Brisbane.

Jeff

I've been organising hiking groups in South East Queensland for the past 3 years, including a Meetup group more recently. I've climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland, been to Zion and Yosemite National Parks in the US, and competed the Kepler, Routeburn and Abel Tasman tracks in New Zealand. I'm familiar with all the tracks in the Gold Coast hinterland especially O'Reillys, Springbrook and Binna Burra. I also have an extensive knowledge of other popular hiking areas such as Mt Barney, Cunningham's Gap, the Glasshouse Mountains and the D'Áigular ranges.

Her skal du være

We will climb Mt Cootha and see a number of examples of aboriginal art. Then on the top of Mt Cootha we will get some great views of Brisbane City and the surrounding countryside,
