Our Cape Town authentic historic city walk will begin at vibrant greenmarket square from where we will visit Cape Town's slave memorial. The dutch built Castle Of Good Hope and the British City Hall bear the legacy of slavery and freedom respectively. The City Hall being the venue from where Nelson Mandela delivered his iconic speech in February 1990. A short walk will take us to the District six museum, a blatant reminder of Apartheid's forced goodbyes to 60 000 families in the 1960's. A short comfort and coffee break at Truth Coffee will allow us to refresh before we continue.(optional) The company gardens bears a witness to our journey from a Dutch outpost to British property and our first Parliament building. Built in 1700 as a tool shed, Tuynhuys, has survived through the ages and today serves as the office of South Africa's State President. Our oldest resident in the VOC gardens has witnessed much, from days of old when slaves sought shade under her branches to the present day botanical garden, a getaway from the office and a spacious playground for the young. Our stop at the race classification board is a rude awakening to the Apartheid mindset of the 1960's. Lastly we will stop at the St Georges Cathedral , "the peoples church" from where the Arch Bishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu led an Apartheid defiance march of 30 000 people of all races in September of 1989.
Other things to note
Dress comfortably, sun hat, sun block if hot. Secure backpack, water or hydrating solution. Brolly if raining. The walk takes approximately 90. min to 2 hours.

Born in South Africa and raised in Cape Town, which is also known as the Mother city, I always regard it a tremendous pleasure to share the story of this amazing city with our visitors from abroad. As an official guide, I am registered with the Cape Town Tourism board South Africa and I regard myself as one of the best among the city's guiding fraternity. In the city of Cape Town itself I am also well known for providing an authentic guided city walk.

Her skal du være

Cape Town has a vibrant history dating from its early days as a refreshment outpost(The Castle and company gardens) to its days as a British colony (The City Hall) to the dark days of Apartheid (The race classification board) and finally to the present, post Apartheid South Africa. Each of these landmarks bears a witness to our long journey to freedom and birthing of a non racial South Africa.

Nathan was an excellent guide. He was very engaging and has a wealth of knowledge of Cape Town and really all of South Africa. You can ask him anything and he will give you his personal views and what he thinks about the views of the people of his city. He was able to organize a tour of the township for us the next day as well. What a wonderful gentleman. We recommend him highly

We had a wonderful tour with Nathan. He gave us an insightful overview of Cape Towns history and was able to answer all of our questions. He was extremely friendly and welcoming. We wouldn’t have been able to have the same experience without him. Highly recommend using Nathan for a glimpse into Cape Town history.

An awesome introduction and overview of Capetown! Nathan was passionate and this clearly came through the moment we started the journey. His knowledge of the fascinating (and rather complex!) place that is Capetown is wonderful and I highly recommend. On a person note, was a pleasure and privilege to cross paths and I wish Nathan and the very best :)
