We'll meet just south of the Santa Monica Pier, small parking lot by the “Hot Dog on a Stick” stand. We will start with a brisk 15 minute jog on the beach (down by the water's edge, where the sand is firm, not soft). We will circle back and end up back at the original "Muscle Beach" in Santa Monica, where the traveling rings are located. We will turn up the music (your choice or mine, I have many Pandora stations!) and we will do a few more warm-up exercises (10 minutes), then 10 minutes of stretching. Finally, we'll chalk up your hands, fit you with leather gymnastics grips and wrist guards, and you'll learn how to fly on the Santa Monica traveling rings! You’ll be trained by an expert with 15 years of experience. Get ready for an amazing good time! I’ll be sure to take some pictures and videos of your traveling rings experience. Drinks and music are provided.
I grew up doing gymnastics, then began teaching gymnastics. When I discovered the “traveling rings,” also known as the “flying rings,” at Santa Monica beach, I fell in love. This unique activity, found in perhaps only a dozen places around the world, combines skills of gymnastics, trapeze, dance and martial arts. I have been loving the rings since 2004 (almost 15 years now!) and people rutinely stop to take pictures, record videos, and tell me how fun it looks. Many ask if I can teach them how to get started. This is what inspired me to start this Airbnb Experience. I have now taught children and adults of all ages—even people into their 70's who have a strong fitness base. There are all levels of abilities and individual capacities for improvement, but almost everyone enjoys the experience.

We'll meet just south of Santa Monica Pier and walk a bit towards the pier. We will then jog, down at the water line, and circle back around to the original “Muscle Beach,” Santa Monica. We'll warm up a bit more, (10 min) stretch, (10 min) then hit the rings. After the rings we will walk about 4 blocks south for a delicious lunch at my favorite local Caribbean restaurant—outdoor seating, reggae usually playing, amazingly good food and drinks.

I am happy to give individual lessons, or group lessons, up to 3 people. I can pick you up around LA, or we can meet at the parking lot just south of the pier (see map). Be sure to come ready for a workout, and to have fun! I will bring bottled waters.
