Det skal I lave

The best pizzas are made in a super hot oven. I prepare for your experience by building up a substantial hardwood fire in our brick oven. Then I mix a dough of classic ingredients including Italian "00" flour and prepare a variety of toppings. By the time you arrive, all the elements of our experience are synchronized: the dough is ready and rested, the oven is heated and you've brought your appetites. All that remains is for you to choose the toppings and slide your pizza onto the brick floor of the oven. About 2 minutes later you will enjoy a selfie-worthy taste treat. Guests are invited to bring their own favourite beverage. You should plan on a two-hour experience. Guests who would like a more in-depth experience including hands-on dough preparation from scratch, maintaining the fire and learning about oven design and construction should message the host for details. This version of the experience requires 5 hours.

I am a retired teacher-librarian with a serious interest in good food, especially good bread and pizza. I have been baking in my brick oven for over 15 years; everything including yeasted breads, rustic sourdough bread, pizza, baked beans, roast chicken and ribs. While family and friends are my most frequent guests, I also have sold or bartered goodies from my oven for other items or services. Trade a pizza party for the use of a wood-splitter? Loaves of bread for lamb shanks? Focaccia for maple syrup? Yes, yes and yes. I was featured in an article in the Summer 2018 issue of "East Coast Living Magazine".
