Join former Park Rangers Beth and Michael to explore local Pacific Northwest gems! Whether you're new to the area and want to find your new 'go-to' spot, passing through and want to explore, or need a guide who's certified in pet first aid for peace of mind, we're excited to hike with you.

Our pre-chosen hikes are located within 25 miles of downtown Seattle and take 1.5-2 hours to complete. Please let us know if have recommendations for locations. We set an easy to moderate pace to complete 2-3 miles in that time, with plenty of breaks for dog socialization, to hop into a stream, or to enjoy the views! We'll teach you about the local plants and wildlife and share stories about local history and land-use while we hike.

This is a dog friendly experience, however, bringing one is not required to participate. We ask all dogs and humans be comfortable and well adjusted around dogs.

We hope that when you're done, you'll have a better appreciation of the PNW, some great photos in your camera, and a happy and tired pup!

We can provide private hikes for groups or corporate teams.
Want to experience a park not listed, no problem! We can also provide private guided hikes at most trails in the area. Message us to plan your perfect hiking adventure, courtesy of BearDog Adventures!

Hi! I spent 10 years as a Park Ranger with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in roles that included Guide, Naturalist, and Wildland Fire-Fighter. My favorite role was working with new users to the outdoors; teaching basic kayaking, hiking, camping, and birding skills. My husband and I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and relocated here so we could hike year-round away from the Texas heat! I'd love to share my experiences and passion for the outdoors with you and help you find your favorite way to enjoy getting outside!

My husband Michael joins in our adventures. Michael has 5 years' experience as a wildlife conservation officer and is certified in both human and pet first aid.

Our dog Smokey leads the pack whenever temperatures permit. He specializes in peeing on ferns, bouncing up rocks, and drinking from creeks.

We alternate between two pre-chosen parks. We accept recommendations for private groups.

Cougar Mountain: This regional park near Issaquah covers over 3,000 acres of diverse habitat ranging from thick forests to streams and pocket prairies.

St. Edwards: This State Park near Kenmore stretches from manicured lawns surrounding the historic 1930's seminary down to the shores of Lake Washington.

We meet at the park.

I booked this experience for a COVID safe work team outing. Prior to booking I asked Beth about in-town locations and she quickly sent back two super thoughtful, tailored options with maps and descriptions. She was extremely responsive at every step. The hike/walk was at Seward Park and Beth had the perfect balance of sharing interesting facts about the park, the old growth trees and the wildlife with time for us to just walk and chat and ask our own questions (including free advice about a back yard maple!) She is very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what she does. Everyone on my team really enjoyed this outing.

Loved this experience! Beth and Michael (and Smokey, their dog and the official mascot of BearDog Adventures) were great hosts and I learned a lot about the environment at Cougar Mountain and the Sound in general. They took into consideration our past hiking experiences and personalized this hike for us, even picking us up from our hotel. Definitely would recommend!
