Det skal I lave
India is brimming with cultures religions and customs. I will introduce you to 2 of the most richest cultures of Hinduism & the Muslim traditions through a visit to the 2 absolutely stunning, soulful & scenic pilgrimages of each. It can be difficult to access these without a local since they're bustling with devotees and one might not be able to see feel and understand the rituals as an traveler. 1st place- Hazrat Nizamuddin is the mausoleum of one of the world's most famous Sufi saints, Auliya. Inside the complex, we'll spot the tombs of other poets. We would eat some of finest local delicacies before reaching the main veranda of the Dargha & tie a wish thread - locals say that tying a thread on the latticed screen serves as a constant reminder to the saint of their wishes. Women are not allowed to go beyond the outer verandah, but they can peek through jali to see the dark chamber where the grave of the great saint lies draped with chadar and rose petals. 2nd palce- Iskon Temple -A feeling of peace and calm strikes the soul as soon as one enters the premises of this temple. We would see the world's largest copy of Gita (hindu holy book) & watch a documentary about brief history of Krishna. The architecture of the temple is a fine example of artistic splendor with “Shikharas”. We would then enjoy a meal at Govinda’s cafe in the temple & spend time looking at paintings.
Hi! I'm a Delhite who has spent more than 28 years here unraveling the nooks & corners of this pretty city. Culture fascinates me & how! I spend my evenings at these pilgrimages as they bring me lot of calm and happiness!
