Det skal I lave

You'll be greeted by light snacks and beverages infused with fermented goodness. I'll go over a short history of fermentation and the science behind it while we taste some recent ferments. We'll then get to making a seasonal fermented vegetable, hands-on. We'll discuss the timing, what to look for at different stages of the ferment, and all the creative ways you can ferment at home with things you most likely already have in your kitchen. We'll also discuss safety in fermenting and make sure you feel completely at ease about this ancient and delicious food preparation technique. At the end you'll go home with your own jar of veggies that will soon turn into magical fermented veggies. Additionally, I am your resource and here to help answer any questions you may have about your own fermentation projects.

I have over 10 years of fermentation and experimental cooking experience. I got my first taste of fermentation through WWOOFing on farms in France and Oregon where I learned the DIY-minded preservation techniques from around the world. Recently, I explored my love of fermentation even further by doing a residency at Sandor Katz’s where I got a deep dive in a wide breadth of ferments including vegetables, grains, and beverages. By day, I work at Preserved, a fermentation shop in Oakland, and by night I'm sharing my love of ferments and cooking with friends and family. I hope to do the same with you!
