Det skal I lave
We start out at the Station of Haarlem (on the whole hour), and take the train to Overveen, just 3 minutes. From there we will walk to the countryside Manor and Parkof Elswout (15 min walk). Right at the beginning we will see the 17th century gateway. I will take you to the manor house Elswout. What is the history of the so called 'Manors' in Holland? Who did buy them, why and when and what did happen in these houses. On the estate are many quiet hidden wonders of the little tea pavilion, ice cellar (were bats are living right now), so called 'follies' on the estate (what are they? we will find out!). The parque itself with its ages old trees, and the many 'stinzen plants' - exotic plants which stayed already for centuries is just as interesting as the buildings. The walk will take us through parque, dunes, meadows, lakes, and will take about 1,25 hour, uploaded with many facts and anecdotes. The last half hour we will have coffee or tea (included in the price) in the magnificant Orangery, the biggest of Holland. You can choose if you would like to eat something of the absolute high class Pastries such as scones, applepie, fruit pastrie (this is not included). Than we will walk back to the station of Overveen. Not that the total walking time of the event will be almost 2 hours, a good condition is required. Ideal for your sunday morning, in every season!
My name is Janine Keijzer and I am a passionate inhabitant of Haarlem and very fond of nature and culture. Originally I am a Cultural Sociologist. This is why interest ánd knowlegde in cultural history is huge. I did find out many beautiful walks in the surroundings and my favourite is the famous Elswout Manor and Park. This country estate collects 4 centuries of history and is absolutely beautiful. I can tell you everything about the history of the Italian-style Countryside Villa, the biggest Orangery of Holland, and also about the way the parque was designed.. The climax to all this, is enjoying coffee and absolute supurb pastries in the Orangery. Jump into the old days with me and enjoy!

We travel together by train, which takes 3 minutes from Haarlem to Overveen. We see each other exactly on the whole hour. It is great when you already buy your retour trainticket , otherwise I will be there to help out. From the station of Overveen we will walk to the Manor Elswout together.
