Det skal I lave
A unique guided tour combining three epochs at a time. You will take a journey through Medieval Moscow, then find yourselves in the 19th century after the abolition of serfdom, and finally see the most striking buildings of the Soviet era – both Avant-garde and Stalinist Empire ones. The tour is designed for a small group to make it as comfortable as possible. On this tour we will: * Wander through the small streets of Kitay-Gorod and talk about the way people used to live here * Touch the masonry of ancient monasteries and visit a Russian Orthodox Church * Learn about the first higher education establishment in Moscow and see the Chambers of the Romanov boyars – the reigning royal house of Russia from 1613 to 1917 * Enjoy the best view over the city from a brand new Zaryadye Park * Taste Russian bakery food in a cosy monastery café * Wander off to the most fashionable Moscow street of the 19th century * Locate the hidden river Neglinka and admire one of the most significant examples of Moscow Art-Nouveau style – Hotel Metropol * See the Narkomfin building – a masterpiece of Soviet avant-garde architecture incorporating Constructivist design with aspects of communal housing * Look at one of the iconic "7 sisters" Stalin’s high-rises and talk about who built it, who lived in it, and where the communist dreams led the country

Hi! I’m Sveta. Tour guide with more than 4 years of experience. Being a design historian, for almost 10 years I’ve been working in the Moscow Design Museum writing scripts and producing films on Russian art and design. Doing this I became friends with many foreign artists visiting us, and every time they found out I’m a passionate architecture lover, they asked me to give them a guided tour around Moscow, so, this is how it all started. Moscow has so many tales to tell that one can spend years here listening to them all. But I know you’re pressed for time, so I designed a guided tour that will help you see the full picture and yet enjoy the atmosphere itself. My hobby is to write short stories – some of them are even published;) And this tour is a story about the legendary city for centuries living in its peculiar Muscovite way.

Then we’ll take metro (1 station) to Kuznetsky Most district with its 19th century Eclecticism and Art-Nouveau. Our last stop will be Barrikadnaya (2 metro stations) where we’ll see the main architectural masterpieces of the Soviet era.
